Flamengo Beach
Located in Bairro do Flamengo, Praia do Flamengo is the first of the beaches on the slopes of the Guanabara Bay, followed by the beaches of Botafogo and Urca. These places, visitors can have access to one of the most scenic Guanabara Bay, with an especially beautiful view of Sugarloaf.
Flamengo is a residential neighborhood of upper middle class, and the beach is mainly characterized by its edge, the Flamengo Park, and the many historic buildings and luxury that can be found in the region. Despite its calm waters, Praia do Flamengo is not normally released for swimming due to pollution, and sun bathing, the bike path for biking or playing sports like rollerblading, tennis, basketball and football, most common activities in the region.

Historically, Praia do Flamengo was one of the first points occupied by the Portuguese in Rio. Throughout history, has been called Uruçumirim Beach, Beach Shoemaker, Praia da Carioca, Beach Aguada Beach Sailors' and Sapocaitoba. Its current name comes from the Flemish or flamingo birds, common in place.

On Flamengo beach, for example, the Cultural Center is located Oduvaldo Vianna Filho (Castelinho Flamengo), inaugurated in 1916, and Parque Brigadeiro Eduardo Gomes, known as the Flamengo Park, designed by landscape architect Burle Marx.

Inside the Flamengo Park, are located the main attractions of the district, such as the Museum of Modern Art (MAM), the Carmen Miranda Museum, and next to it is Marina da Glória, Monumento a Estacio de Sa, the home of Events Rio Show, plus several restaurants.
